6AL-4V

Alternate Names: Grade 5 Titanium, 6-4 Titanium

Description: 6AL-4V is the most common alloy of Titanium. As an alloyed Grade of Titanium, it is strengthened by the inclusion of roughly 6% Aluminum and 4% Vanadium. It is known as an alpha-beta Titanium alloy, containing both alpha and beta phases at room temperature. 6AL-4V typically comes in the Annealed condition, but it can be strengthened by heat treatment, such as Solution Treating and Aging. 6AL-4V offers good weldability. Overall, 6AL-4V exhibits high strength, light weight, and corrosion resistance, which make it an excellent choice for applications in aerospace, medical, oil and gas, marine, and recreational industries.

Machinability: The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) determined a rating system of machinability of different materials. 160 Brinell B1112 steel was arbitrarily assigned a machinability rating of 100%. Using this as a comparable standard, ratings less than 100% are more challenging to machine, and ratings more than 100% are easier to machine. Titanium 6AL-4V is rated at 22% of B1112. Low cutting speeds, heavy feed rates, sharp tools, and ample cutting fluid are prescribed.

6AL-4V Titanium is available in the following Product Forms:
Round Bar (Rod), Rectangular Flat Bar (Block), Plate, and Sheet.

6AL-4V Titanium is available in the following Specifications:

6AL-4V Eli

Alternate Names: Grade 23 Titanium, 6-4 Eli Titanium

Description: 6AL-4V Eli is an alloyed Grade of Titanium. It is strengthened by the inclusion of roughly 6% Aluminum and 4% Vanadium. Titanium 6AL-4V Eli (Extra-Low Interstitial) is considered a higher purity than 6AL-4V Grade 5 due to its lower inclusions of Iron, and the interstitial elements, Carbon and Oxygen. 6AL-4V Eli typically comes in the annealed condition, but can be found in beta annealed condition as well. 6AL-4V Eli Grade 23 shows high strength and toughness, as well as good corrosion resistance. It is found in aerospace applications where fracture toughness and fatigue strength are important. As a biocompatible Grade of Titanium, it is also known for its applications in medical and dental industries.

CP Grade 4

Alternate Names: CP Grade 4 Titanium, CP 4, Grade 4, CP 70

Description: Commercially Pure (CP) Grade 4 Titanium is a grade of unalloyed titanium. CP Titanium mechanical properties are controlled by chemistry; specifically the input of Nitrogen, Oxygen and Iron which will increase strength of material. CP Grade 4 is higher in strength than CP Grades 1, 2, and 3. It is also commonly called “CP 70” which is in reference to its approximate yield strength. CP Grade 4 exhibits excellent corrosion resistance, as well as high strength. It is used in a variety of industries such as chemical, marine and aerospace.

Machinability: Low cutting speeds, heavy feed rates, sharp tools, and ample cutting fluid are prescribed.

CP Grade 4 Titanium is available in the following Product Forms:
Round Bar (Rod), Plate, and Sheet.

6AL-6V-2SN

Alternate Names: 662 Titanium

Description: 6AL-6V-2SN is an alloyed Grade of alpha-beta Titanium. 6AL-6V-2SN is similar to 6AL-4V in many ways, but exhibits higher strength properties due to additional Vanadium, Iron, and Copper. Welding is not typically recommended. 6AL-6V-2SN is often found in the Annealed condition, or heat treated to the higher strength Solution Treated & Aged condition. 6AL-6V-2SN exhibits extra high strength, and light weight. It is often used in aerospace, and oil & gas applications.

Machinability: Low cutting speeds, heavy feed rates, sharp tools, and ample cutting fluid are prescribed.

6AL-6V-2SN Titanium is available in the following Product Forms:
Round Bar (Rod), Rectangular Flat Bar (Block), Plate, and Sheet.

CP Grade 2

Alternate Names: CP Grade 2 Titanium, CP 2, Grade 2, CP 40

Description: Commercially Pure (CP) Grade 2 Titanium is one of the most common grades of unalloyed titanium. CP Titanium mechanical properties are controlled by chemistry; specifically the input of Nitrogen, Oxygen and Iron which will increase strength of material. CP Grade 2 is higher in strength than CP Grade 1, but lower than CP Grades 3 and 4. It is also commonly called “CP 40” which is in reference to its approximate yield strength. It is an attractive grade of titanium due to its excellent corrosion resistance, good formability, and limited strength. It is used in a variety of industries such as chemical, marine, medical, recreational, and aerospace.

Machinability: Low cutting speeds, heavy feed rates, sharp tools, and ample cutting fluid are prescribed.

CP Grade 2 Titanium is available in the following Product Forms:
Round Bar (Rod), Plate, and Sheet.

Titanium Product Forms

Performance Titanium offers the following Titanium Product Forms:

First time customer with PTG. The process was very smooth, even getting the credit application for net terms was extremely quick. Delaney was very nice & helpful in answering my questions! Our company does not purchase titanium often, but when we do, I will 100% be requesting a quote from PTG!

One of my favorite suppliers. Jenna turns the quotes quickly and if she is not in, her backup does. PTG deliveries are timely and material certs are provided when requested. I have not had a single issue with any order.

In the 9 years I have been purchasing from Performance, I don’t recall having any major issues with material or paperwork. You have a great group of people who respond quickly to quotes.

Aaron Queen is great to work with; always quick to respond and on top of every detail. He makes ordering stress-free by keeping communication clear. Anytime that there is a question, Aaron follows up right away and gets me the product that I need, when I need it!

I’ve been dealing with Sasha for years. The staff are all very helpful, prompt, courteous, etc. PTG is the first company I go to when looking for titanium.
